Kevin previously donated to our first campaign….so by combining his pledge amounts it allowed him to request a song for our cast to sing. He has been nothing short of amazing in his support — so this is a special video (with a special guest appearance). Much appreciated Gary and the cast!

    Pick a word…..any word

This blog entry pertains to my latest Kickstarter campaign which is seeking to raise finishing funds (including live orchestration) for my movie musical.  As a special incentive, we are starting a new game that involves all of our current and future backers.  If you donate any amount, we will ask you to give us a single word of your choice — any word at all. At the very end of this campaign, we will take the list of compiled words [...]

  • SCHERMANN SONG Vocal Pickups

    SCHERMANN SONG Vocal Pickups

Over the weekend the main cast of HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG gathered in a makeshift studio (Joe’s Brooklyn apartment) to lay down additional vocals for various tracks.  Just a quiet top floor and a huge floor rug taped against the window can do wonders for DIY soundproofing a space. We were sad to miss one of our actors Mark DiConzo, but happy that the rest (Joe Schermann, Christina Rose, Debbie Williams, Jenn Dees, Daryl Ray Carliles) [...]

    “SCHERMANN SONG” Gets Some Love

Over this past weekend, 2 film news sites that I hold in high regard covered our HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG teaser: /FILM writes: “I don’t think I can remember any indie in recent memory that wanted to be a musical as well.  It just doesn’t seem like a task for too many filmmakers, unless you’re a young Rob Marshall and have your sights set on crafting something extraordinary, something really expensive.  For sheer ambition alone the [...]

Diary of a Countdown: Assembly Cut Test Screening

new (Winter 2010) teaser poster – click to enlarge I scheduled a private test screening of the assembly cut (i.e. very first cut of the film) for Sunday (12/19) at a cozy apartment in Manhattan courtesy of some generous friends.  The majority of attendees have no association with the project and aren’t familiar with the storyline other than knowing they’re going to see a musical. I thought I’d keep a running journal for the month of December on where I’m [...]

    The 2010 Flyway Experience

Had another great year at the Flyway Film Festival!  I had the honor of screening 2 films (WHAT’S UP LOVELY and DEATH OF THE DEAD) this time around.  Both showings were pretty packed for this intimate festival tucked away in the charming town of Pepin and Stockhom, Wisconsin. Both films had great feedback! @BillElverman tweeted that WHAT’S UP LOVELY is “an artistic masterpiece, Jenn Dees gives best indie performance of year so far…” @loopmovie said that DEATH OF THE DEAD [...]
