It features our original songs from the film written by the brilliant Joe Schermann and performed by our talented cast (Joe Schermann, Christina Rose, Debbie Williams). And you’ll be able to hear the incredible orchestral arrangements written for the songs by our amazing composer Ken Lampl (along with the all-star mixing skills of Keith Ukrisna and Darren Tate). This truly has been a memorable collaboration.

What I really dig about these songs is that I asked for Joe to create different styles for each lead character. He took it and ran with it. I love these songs. In the film, you will hear his influences of Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown and yes, even Springsteen in them.

Hallway Obsession

The other day I was very flattered and intrigued when someone pointed out to me something about my films that I hadn’t even noticed. I’m talking particularly about the movies that I’ve personally done and not the “for-hire” gigs.

Without consciously thinking about it, all the films that I’ve written and directed feature a major character walking away from the camera down a long hallway — each time occurring during Act 1 of their story. I guess you do what you love (sometimes without even noticing it).

The cool thing is that now I have a tiny body of work to look back on and reflect on my growth. I can see the flaws, learning lessons and, in this case, patterns. I wonder why I’m obsessed with characters and hallways?

When looking back, what have you noticed about your films so far?

Taking Risks

I’ve decided to show what trailer’s style directly inspired me to create my 2nd teaser trailer for HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG (which definitely divided people strongly into the “love it/hate it” camps). As a filmmaker, I love taking risks and sometimes they work….sometimes they don’t. But I take them.

Remember…everyone borrows….it’s from whom you choose to borrow from that makes you unique.

We used the 5D on HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG with a 3-man crew. With these cameras now, film production can be done on a much smaller scale if you have the right people in place.

I believe all these cameras are pretty amazing and can easily do the job — so it’s all about who’s using them and how good the rest of your production is (story, talent, etc). Now’s a great time to go out and make your film.
