Not too many people may know him but he made some film seriously great films…most notably for me were BULLITT and BREAKING AWAY.

BULLITT is such an influential film for me….so much so that for my second short film (HUBRIS – 2006) I pretty much lifted what I could from its amazing opening sequence.  Granted…my film was about speed dating while his was about cops and gangsters.

As technology improves each year (making everything better and more affordable), it makes me just hope to keep up with my own growth as a filmmaker and visual storyteller.  I’m dancin’ as fast as I can.

Looking at my trailers brings back fond memories of the people and experiences that have come and gone in the past 7 years.  I am who I am today because of them.

I love it here and feel so inspired from the environment. The script development for my feature film is coming along nicely.On top of the move, HUBRIS has been getting some great PR lately.

1) Got a great review from Rogue Cinema: “Trust me, whatever it takes you really want to see this film….the acting was great, the comedy all worked, and all in all this was just a really awesome film. Gary King has an unbelievable talent as a filmmaker.” (I’m really flattered from the comments and actually have spoken with the critic Duane L. Martin about the film. Look for the interview in the coming months at RogueCinema.com)

2) The HUBRIS MySpace site is the “Featured Filmmaker” this week. The total profile views has doubled in just two days!! Wow. The power of the internet.

3) Last but not least, HUBRIS will be screening this Oct at the FAIF Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. Screening details will be announced in Sept, but I’m really excited to go as it will screen at the Mann’s Chinese Theater.

The earliest I’ll hear back is in late April. Seems so far away right now.I’m still on the lookout for other festivals to join, but I can’t wait to have the US premiere.

In the meantime, I’m gearing up to start another Film Acting Workshop in New York soon. I held them last year before going on hiatus to shoot my short film.

Now I’m scrambling to get the film out to festivals before their deadlines in hopes that it’ll make it into a few.I’ve been tied up creating the press kits, screener copies, filling out applications……and working on some feature scripts.

Hopefully, this will be an exciting year with many surprises yet to come.
