Single and lonely, Barry (Frederik Goris) allows himself to be talked into a speed dating scheme guaranteed to land him a date by his best friend, Jeremy (Jeremy Koerner). Unfortunately, the women at the speed dating session have a plan of their own. Jeremy and Barry learn that love truly is a battlefield.

Hectic (In a good way)

Man, things have been really wild for the past few months….primarily with my move from the West Coast to NYC. I love it here and feel so inspired from the environment. The script development for my feature film is coming along nicely.On top of the move, HUBRIS has been getting some great PR lately.

1) Got a great review from Rogue Cinema: “Trust me, whatever it takes you really want to see this film….the acting was great, the comedy all worked, and all in all this was just a really awesome film. Gary King has an unbelievable talent as a filmmaker.” (I’m really flattered from the comments and actually have spoken with the critic Duane L. Martin about the film. 2) The HUBRIS MySpace site is the “Featured Filmmaker” this week. The total profile views has doubled in just two days!! Wow. The power of the internet.

3) Last but not least, HUBRIS will be screening this Oct at the FAIF Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. Screening details will be announced in Sept, but I’m really excited to go as it will screen at the Mann’s Chinese Theater.

Film Festivals

So far…..I’ve submitted HUBRIS to 39 festivals and am waiting to hear back to see if anyone is interested in screening it at their festival. The earliest I’ll hear back is in late April. Seems so far away right now.I’m still on the lookout for other festivals to join, but I can’t wait to have the US premiere.

In the meantime, I’m gearing up to start another Film Acting Workshop in New York soon. I held them last year before going on hiatus to shoot my short film.

In order to give the film an extra publicity push through the film festival submission process, a MySpace site has been created for the small chance that it may get networked to people who would be interested in programming it. If I’m lucky, I hope to meet you soon on the festival circuit.

HUBRIS Done

The film is finally completed for festival submissions….a full year after first writing the script. Now I’m scrambling to get the film out to festivals before their deadlines in hopes that it’ll make it into a few.I’ve been tied up creating the press kits, screener copies, filling out applications……and working on some feature scripts.

Hopefully, this will be an exciting year with many surprises yet to come.

Hubris Premiere

The film’s score and sound design are being worked on as well as the color-correction. Looks like a November premiere is in sight. Should be a fun time to finally present the film to a large audience to see the type of reactions it will (or will not) get.

ADR Session

Just finished up a 12 hour ADR marathon session for Hubris. Special thanks to Brooks White for his dedication to the craft. Many thanks to Mary, Frederik….and especially Jeremy, Nicole and my lovely wife Susie for making it through to the end.Everyone was tired, but we got what we needed. The session was fun.
