One More Day

Principal Photography wraps tomorrow and I can’t believe the whole thing is coming to an end. We wrapped 3 lead actors today and it was sad to see them walk off into the sunset as the crew kept trucking along getting all the shots we needed.

We had a very cool encounter today in a Manhattan Park with an officer — but we live to tell the tale…..and got the shot too!!

Tomorrow will be a bittersweet end — but I’m happy knowing this is only the beginning with the new partners in crime that I’ve met along this ride.

Going Too Fast!!

January 15, 2008 Film, General, New York Lately No Comments

Just wrapped Shooting Day 24 — and things are just moving too damn fast. I’m having so much fun shooting and bonding with my actors and crew — it’s just a shame knowing that we’re coming close to the end….only 9 more days to shoot and it’s all over.

How do you bottle things up and keep the moment forever? I guess that sounds really friggin’ cheesy….but making a movie and sharing the experience of the process with everyone is a very unique experience (at least to me). So this is a special moment knowing that eventually the only thing is I’ll have relive the entire experience will be to watch the film and think about what went into making it — the blood, sweat and tears….the dedication….the friendships (old and new). All I’ll have will be the memories and that just sucks.

Ouch!

I’m in the middle of what I tried not to do for the Jan leg of the shoot — which is pulling a late night wrap with an early call time the following day. Man, it’s all worth it….but it’s just that one point when you realize that you’re going to end up in bed around 2am-ish and have to get up at 6am to shoot for the whole day……..

Lovin’ it!!

New movie stills coming soon……just need to find some downtime in the next week to post them. Hang tight.

Much Needed Rest…

Day off today after 4 grueling, but incredibly productive shooting days. Crew and talent were both on fire — making it seem like I didn’t even have to be there!!

I’m really diggin’ working with everyone — and am already formulating future things to throw people into if they’d be willing to work with me again (fingers crossed). It’s so weird to shoot multiple storylines as it feels like we’re making 8 movies. Every new scene brings new passion and excitement in different ways — it’s hard to describe, but it’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to see how these characters and stories start to take shape once the film cuts together.

Yesterday was pretty much a full day shooting outdoors in Queens — and it was 60 degrees out — simply beautiful. We had to have all the actors in full on Winter gear and fake that they were cold.

On a funny note….trying to throw my regular cast member Jeremy Koerner — playing “Elliot George” — for a loop in a scene I had the very lovely and talented actress Vanessa Streiff — playing “Samantha Thompson” — do some improv which indirectly spawned my very own Tarantino “Red Apple” product that I will throw around in this film and future ones. I won’t tell what it is — and people may never notice it — but if anything it will make me smile every time I see it.

Day 18

Just finished up 2 days at a nice apartment location in Union Square — now we’re on to our 3rd day (Shooting Day 18)…..things are running smoothly considering being a few crew people short here and there for this leg — which should make for an interesting month. Performances were delightful and the cinematography had me smiling — a real nice way to start things off.

I’ve counted 36 total shooting days for the feature film which doesn’t sound like too much considering the storylines and the coverage I need — it makes me just a tad bit sad knowing that we have now officially completed shooting 50% of the film.

On the road again….

Well not really — but I will be shooting so many days (18 shooting days over the next 25 calendar days) in Jan that I will barely be able to make it to “homebase” for an extended period of time — so in a sense it will feel like being on the road. I know my DP (Jason Varner) would roll his eyes at me and say: “No dude — you have no idea what it’s like to be on the road — you pu$#y”

There’s nothing like shooting a movie! Can’t wait to see and work with my extended family again.
