Happy Holidays

So I’m here in Trumansburg, NY — celebrating the holidays with my in-laws — and also getting much needed rest from the crazy December shooting schedule. We shot 15 days over 18 days in Dec….and Jan looks to be just as busy (which I am looking forward to!!).

I’m so amped to shoot the rest of the film — but am really bummed that a few actors have already wrapped from the shoot and will not be needed for this leg of the production. I’m already scheming on how I can work with them again on another project.

Side note — NEW YORK LATELY was finally listed in the Production Charts in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, so now we’re getting a few calls about post-production services and distribution inquiries which is pretty cool.

Things are rolling along which I have a lot to be thankful for — and to look forward to in the new year.

Good Luck

So I’ve been told that having a bird poop on your head is good luck — which then leads me to say “Thanks Jenn!!!”

Bittersweet End to December

MidTown Rooftop

This is the last location of our December shoot — 20 floors above the city in Midtown. The amazing Jason Varner (DP) is running camera while Mark DiConzo performs a heart-wrenching monologue. If you can make it out, you’ll see the three of us on the right side.

Thanks to Luis Martinez for the amazing behind the scenes shot.

Day 15 – Dec Wrapped

December 22, 2007 Film, General, New York Lately Comments Off

We finished the December component of the shoot — will take a well deserved break and then begin it all again in January 2008 with an approximate 18 day shoot to complete the film. We’ve got about 25 hours of footage so far!!!

I have to say that the actors and crew have blown me away thus far and I can’t wait to start putting together the film to shape the stories. I was constantly surprised (in the best way) from all the talent both in front of and behind the camera. There are so many moving pieces to making a film and I could not ask for more from those who have joined and have given everything they have.

More pics will be released soon!!

Day 13

A bird pooped on one of the actress’s head — but we made it through the long day.

Day 5

December 9, 2007 Film, General, New York Lately Comments Off

Started at 6pm and just got home a little past 7am — my first overnight shoot ever. Surprisingly I’m so amped from the night that I’m not too tired….yet.

We got some rock solid performances (Susan, Jenn and Jared were on fire tonight!!) and the HD footage looked amazing using our 35mm adapter. Our DP (Jason Varner) thought that this night was the tightest in terms of sailing along like a well-oiled machine. I’m just sorry so many of the cast and crew had to pull the long night as the location only allowed us to shoot there from 8:30pm-7:30am (Thanks Gabby!!).

Thanks to David who came in from a long ways just to shoot a scene that is pivotal, but yet only lasts a few seconds — that’s dedication.

Nik, Jason, Michelle, Anna, Tiff, Reggie, Jabbath, Caleb and my lovely wife Susie — you guys were amazing helping keep it all together.

So what’s next on the shot list??
