More film projects get started than finished….whether it be for lack of funding, schedule conflicts, creative differences, the list goes on and on.
I thought it’d be fun to share some concept art I had my talented brother create for me a few years ago. It was for a horror film I was being considered to direct. Around 2009, I flew to LA to pitch the producers my take on the script. I brought the artwork to show my vision and take on the material. At the meeting, they mentioned I was the only filmmaker to bring in visuals as part of my pitch which I found very surprising.
They liked my stuff, however the producer on their team who championed me left the project and the whole film was eventually scrapped….hence I didn’t get the gig.
So many projects start then stop — it truly is a miracle when a film gets made.
This would’ve been a fun film to make.

I’m very surprised that others didn’t have visuals when they pitched, that’s just really silly and irresponsible of them. You have to give a visual, if not a short film or clip, then concept art or designs or something. Good going for standing out in the crowd, Gary!
