This Is The List (Part 9)

MOLLY RYMAN (Andrea Stratten) I met Molly Ryman as she auditioned for ANDREA and was immediately impressed with her subtleties. Film acting is so minute….so tiny…that as she read for the role I saw a softness in her delivery that I felt would be perfect for the role. But just look at her — she’s an incredible talent and the camera LOVES her — the perfect object of obsession for the character MARK WAGNER (played by Mark DiConzo) to be [...]

    Odds/Ends

My niece is a cutie!! She’s a year old now and I still haven’t seen her in person since I’ve been so busy….I’m a bad uncle. Her dad (my brother Mike) helped me update this blog’s banner with images from NY Lately (see the top of the page)….I think it looks awesome.

This Is The List (Part 8)

ASHLEY MOSS (Becky Bultmann) When Ashley Moss came in the door and I knew there was something about her — besides her Southern charm and beauty….it was when she spoke I knew I had to work with her. She actually read for a different role in which I didn’t think suited her uniqueness which I believe is her voice….talk to her and you’ll know what I’m saying — it’s fantastic. Now don’t get me wrong….she has talent on top of [...]

  • The Getaway

    The Getaway

I took a small break from all the action last week and travelled to the beautiful island of St. Lucia for a recharge. I had been working non-stop every day since last June 2007 on NEW YORK LATELY. Getting away afforded me some time to relax with my beautiful wife along with zip-lining in the rainforests — as well as tinkering with my next idea for a feature film. Me and the Mrs. Writing my next film A Room With [...]

  • Blog Technical Problems

I’m having major tech issues with the service I use to host this blog. The servers are extremely slow and sometimes don’t even load this site. So this blog will take super long to load — or not even show up. Just wanted to let y’all know that I’m still around but the site has become very unstable. They assure me they are working on the problem so my fingers are crossed. Their customer support has been awesome in trying [...]

This Is The List (Part 7)

JEREMY KOERNER (Elliot George) I met Jeremy Koerner back in 2003 when he first auditioned for my short film FAVORS. I knew he was something special – but didn’t exactly fit the character he was reading for — so I wrote him into the script…..and the adventure began. There’s an energy about Jeremy that you have to really be around to experience — and his innate ability to channel it into his performance is awe inspiring…..because sometimes you don’t even [...]

  • Bad Times

Turns out my math sucks — a week of editing has gone by and I’ve correctly calculated that I’ve completed 35 minutes of the rough cut. I don’t know how I figured 40 minutes was done last week — it did seem like an awful lot at the time. Oh well. The 35 minutes is looking pretty good….still don’t know the overall tone of the piece yet as I’m cutting scene by scene and haven’t had time to just sit [...]

  • Good Times

A rough 40 minutes is now assembled and the movie is beginning to take shape. I’m already starting to incorporate some ideas that I’ve been toying with in my head, but never had in the script — and I think it’s working. We’ll see once we get the rough cut in front of a test audience in another month or so. Weekend plans: attending a friend’s play, a party, a birthday party — edit edit edit!! Some other cool rumblings [...]
