  • Coming Up For Air

The first 10 minutes of the film have been roughly put together. I’m already playing around with sequences by shifting their order (deviating from the script). It’s still hard to tell what type of overall tone is being set since it’s still early on — but it seems to be coming together how I envisioned things. As they say, one actually creates 3 films when doing a movie project…..the one you write…..the one you shoot….and the one you edit. It’s [...]

This Is The List (Part 6)

ELISABETH HOWER (Lelia Ray) I found Elisabeth Hower from another film’s website (I love the internet — it’s a new thing you should look into). She had a certain look that I felt would fit the character “ANDREA” that I was looking to fill. When she came in and read, I soon thought (and my casting team agreed) that she may be a better fit as LELIA. She was a little younger than what I had imagined for the character, [...]

  • Trailer Feedback

Got the following message from a friend of New York Lately’s MySpace: “The trailer No. 1 scene with Susan Cagle walking through the Village on a winters day is SO awesome, so neo-retro, so Dylanesque — that scene alone will be more than worth the price of admission! But I can’t wait to see the rest! Thanks for finding me, and may your project be abundantly blessed!” – Tony Now how cool is that?

Today we officially began digitizing all the raw production footage into our editing machine — 50 hours loaded onto one super-computer!! Then it’s on to organizing and labelling all the clips — so it’ll actually be a few days before we can even start editing, but we’re on our way. Yes!!

  • 2nd Trailer for NEW YORK LATELY

This is the latest teaser trailer for my upcoming feature film NEW YORK LATELY. People seem to really enjoy this one and I’ve got some great feedback that it’s much darker in tone than the first one. Both teaser trailers are my baby so it would be tough for me to decide which one I like better. You can check out the latest trailer below. This Is The List (Part 5)

MARK DiCONZO (Mark Wagner) Mark DiConzo was one of the first actors I worked with after arriving in New York in 2006. Actually, he was THE first one I worked with out here. I cast him in a small web commercial project that I was hired to do. What impressed me about him first off was his eagerness to do and try anything — in that his passion for acting came through loud and clear. Because of this, I cast [...]

JENNIFER DEES (Veronica Darling) I met Jennifer Dees during the early rounds of auditions — she strolled in through the door like one cool cat. I had no idea who she was and had seen a ton of people that day before her and was not feeling any of them. When Jenn performed the monologue for VERONICA DARLING, she blew me away. I remember it well — it was a very good day. There was only a small number of [...]

This Is The List (Part 3)

SUSAN CAGLE (Truly Hanssen) Susan Cagle entered my life first through her singing — as I’m sure she has in many people’s lives. Just google her name and you’ll see tons of stories about her life and what she has gone through to be where she is now. I actually first heard of her via a CD sampler and at first listen I knew this girl was special so I threw down my ten bucks and bought her first CD [...]

This Is The List (Part 2)

JARED ASATO (Jared Ishii) I met Jared back in 2005 as I was casting my short film comedy HUBRIS. I sourced him off a Bay Area Theater website and invited him for an audition. I was testing improv skills as I needed an actor to be funny as hell, but not “trying too hard” all the time — if that makes any sense. Man, he really was the funniest guy during the audition so we quickly cast him for the [...]
