  • Happy Holidays

So I’m here in Trumansburg, NY — celebrating the holidays with my in-laws — and also getting much needed rest from the crazy December shooting schedule. We shot 15 days over 18 days in Dec….and Jan looks to be just as busy (which I am looking forward to!!). I’m so amped to shoot the rest of the film — but am really bummed that a few actors have already wrapped from the shoot and will not be needed for this [...]

  • Good Luck

    Good Luck

So I’ve been told that having a bird poop on your head is good luck — which then leads me to say “Thanks Jenn!!!” On the set of NEW YORK LATELY (Dec 2007)

  • Bittersweet End to December

    Bittersweet End to December

This is the last location of our December shoot — 20 floors above the city in Midtown. The amazing Jason Varner (DP) is running camera while Mark DiConzo performs a heart-wrenching monologue. If you can make it out, you’ll see the three of us on the right side. Thanks to Luis Martinez for the amazing behind the scenes shot.

  • Day 15 – Dec Wrapped

We finished the December component of the shoot — will take a well deserved break and then begin it all again in January 2008 with an approximate 18 day shoot to complete the film. We’ve got about 25 hours of footage so far!!! I have to say that the actors and crew have blown me away thus far and I can’t wait to start putting together the film to shape the stories. I was constantly surprised (in the best way) [...]

A bird pooped on one of the actress’s head — but we made it through the long day.

  • Day 5

Started at 6pm and just got home a little past 7am — my first overnight shoot ever. Surprisingly I’m so amped from the night that I’m not too tired….yet. We got some rock solid performances (Susan, Jenn and Jared were on fire tonight!!) and the HD footage looked amazing using our 35mm adapter. Our DP (Jason Varner) thought that this night was the tightest in terms of sailing along like a well-oiled machine. I’m just sorry so many of the [...]

  • Day 3

Wrapped one hour early today with some rock solid footage. Very happy with what I’m getting so far.

  • Day 2

16 hour shooting day yesterday….3 hours worth of footage. Nice!! We got some incredible stuff from some amazing actors (thanks to Susan, Jenn & Elisabeth) — the crew rocked the house as well!! When I got home I started to backup some of the HD footage and found myself falling asleep — and waking up by finding myself talking in my sleep to my DP. Eventually got 4 hours sleep and now we’re rolling into Day 3…..I have a feeing [...]

  • Day One Starts With a BANG

I must admit I’m stealing that from an actress who so aptly put that our first shot of the film started with a bang – literally. Thanks to Lada and Chris for making that happen. Special shout to Jose and his Brooklyn cussing abilities. All this will make sense once some footage is released from Day One’s shoot. The crew did an awesome job and we learned some good lessons to help with efficiency. Rock on!!

  • Tonight’s the night

Tonight we will be getting the first shots in the can for NEW YORK LATELY. Surprisingly, I’m pretty calm. We’ve got a great crew and cast in place — and most everything has been carefully planned out. So except for the unforeseen situations that come up as they always do, we should be having fun for the next 3 weeks getting about half of the movie done before breaking for the the X-Mas holiday. More updates coming soon!!
