My plane ride allowed me to view to “sanitized” versions of the following films.Hitch (2005) – Such a promising opening sequence only to fall to some movie-factory conventions. Will Smith gives an endearing performance and the film has its nice moments. The biggest fault for me was Act 3 fell apart and didn’t seem to really strive to do anything unique. (C) Note: There were some portrayals of Asian people in this film that were actually “normal”. No accents!! Yeah!! Kudos to the filmmakers for that, which would bump this rating to a (C+)

The Pacifier (2005) - What an awful mess. A cliched ridden storyline with very unengaging performances by all its supporting characters. Vin Diesel still can hold the screen with his personae …however, even he can’t save this ple of dung. You can see the setup and endings from a mile away. Evenworse, there are some terrible Asian stereotypes. And if you can make it to the end, watch for the very last shot of the film that the director Adam Shankman decides to use. What I saw that shot I said to myself, “Why would you use the shot of one of the minor supporting characters to close a movie?” He must’ve been paid off or something. Boo!! (F)
